World Rotaract Week In SKN Hailed A Success

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Tuesday 20th March 2018) –The Rotaract Club of St.Kitts is hailing its recently concluded local week of activities for the internationally observed World Rotaract Week(Monday 12th to Sunday 18th March) in commemoration of Rotaract’s 50th anniversary a success.

According to club Secretary Chrisantha Boon: “Rotaract Week 2018 was exceptional. The Rotaract Club of out did itself in recognition of this year’s golden anniversary. I’m super proud of each member who had their part, some bigger than some but regardless of such we came together as a club and collectively  ensured that we made the occasion an extra special one.”

She added: “Rotaract worldwide celebrates 50 years- dating back to 13th March 1968 when the first club was founded- and so Clubs were urged to go big for the festivities. It was quite interesting to see the activities across the world by clubs.”

Encouraging other young people to join the club, she remarked: “I urge to young adults to be more active in their communities. The saying ‘Youths of tomorrow’ speaks truth because as young people, we control the future and so we should invest in it by giving back and the Rotaract Club of St.Kitts provides an avenue for such.”

The local activities to highlight World Rotaract Week in celebration of the 50th anniversary, climaxed with a beach social at the South East Peninsula.

Other doings for the week included a Rota-Represent-Wear Your Pin Day’, a Blood Drive Awareness, food carton distribution to the needy, a whistle stop throughout the island and the launch of a mentorship programme at the Cayon High School.

The Rotaract Club of St.Kitts is sponsored by the Rotary of St.Kitts which is part of Rotary International-Membership age requirement is 18-30.

The focus of Rotaract Clubs in general is the coming together of members, including prospective members, to take action to enhance their communities in various areas, develop their leadership and professional skills and also have fun socialising with each other.
