On 22 February 2021, a new and powerful charitable initiative was established, with its mission being that of improving and empowering our people by defeating poverty and bringing hope to the most vulnerable within our society. On the initiative of Comrade Doctor Terrance Drew, the CARE Foundation (Compassionate Action to Reach and Empower) was brought into being, with the sincere and people-loving intentions of intensifying his community outreach across the nation, all in furtherance of his selfless efforts to meet the needs of our people wherever they may be.

As a non-sectarian, not-for-profit charitable organisation, CARE has been conceptualised and crafted to undertake projects across five priority areas: (1) poverty alleviation, (2) disaster response, (3) health, wellness and nutrition, (4) empowerment and education, and (5) community enhancement. From its very initiation the needs of many were directly addressed and met, both here at home and further afield — indeed, CARE was immediately instrumental in providing assistance to a group in St. Eustatius and to the people of St. Vincent and The Grenadines.

The Foundation was officially launched on Saturday evening, 17 April 2021, at Carambola Beach Club. It was very well attended by party leader Dr. The Right Honourable Denzil Douglas, other parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, councillors and benefactors, and well-wishers. Several inspiring addresses were given by the Founder, Comrade Drew, the CARE President Ms. Nerys Dockery, and inspirational speaker Ms. Claricia Belle.

The Labour Spokesman and The St. Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union extend heartiest congratulations to Comrade Dr. Terrance Drew for his foresight, leadership, and selflessness in establishing this most worthy organisation. We are fully confident that this initiative is destined to be very successful and will have a very positive impact on our people and our nation.
