BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 7th August 2024) – Information reaching this media house indicates that the two victims recently found dead with bullet wounds in a vehicle, namely 30year-old Devon Parris and 9-year-old J’Marni Smithen, were an uncle and his young nephew.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is investigating that double homicide after the bodies were discovered near Newton Ground Bay on . The discovery was made at approximately 9:52 AM, prompting an immediate response from officers of the Sandy Point Police Station and other police units.
Police say that upon arrival, officers found the lifeless bodies of Parris of Stoney Grove, Nevis, and Smithen of Craddock Road, Nevis. Both victims were lying face down inside a red Honda Fit motor car, registration number R 66, with apparent gunshot wounds to their heads.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the two had left a family member’s residence around 4:00 PM on , intending to attend a birthday party at the Caribbean Cinema. However, they never arrived at their destination, and repeated calls to Devon’s cell phone went unanswered.
The following morning, a concerned citizen noticed the vehicle in some bushes facing south near the sea in Newton Ground and discovered the lifeless bodies inside. District Medical Officer Dr. Medrano was called to the scene and pronounced both individuals deceased at approximately 11:10 AM.
Crime Scene Personnel processed the area, gathering items of evidential value. The bodies have been taken into custody pending autopsies as investigations continue. The police are actively working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
