BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Monday 24th January 2023)- Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, the new Leader of the St. KittsNevis Labour Party (SKNLP) has pledged to continue to carry out the work of the movement going on the principle ‘For the Good that We Can Do.’ “As leader of this great party, I therefore pledge to continue to carry on the work of our great stalwarts, to continue fighting for that great principle, that foundational principle ‘For the Good that We Can Do’, not for ourselves but for all of our people and for our Federation and extend the principle of doing good and being a force for good through the region and definitely through the world.” Such sentiments were expressed during Dr.

Drew’s remarks at the SKNLP’s 90th Anniversary Church Service held on Sunday 23rd January, at the Antioch Baptist Church in St. Johnston’s Village in Basseterre as he applauded party stalwarts whom he credited for the advancement of the people and federation.

Dr. Drew continued: “And as we continue this fight , as we continue to effect change that would advance the people of this country, your government has been working strategically, diligently to transform the landscape to create a nation where all can have the opportunity to advance themselves…” The SKNLP Leader encouraged supporters to continue to embrace the political organisation which he described as a ‘A movement that is greater than all of us and to to go by our party for the good of those who depend on us, for the good of our great nation St.

Kitts and Nevis. Let us continue to be guided by the words of our favourite hymn that has become our party’s anthem – See the glorious banner waving , hear the trumpet blow, in our leader’s name we triumph over every foe’.” According to him: “The Labour Party is here to stay.

The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party and movement will continue to transform the landscape of St. Kitts and Nevis, and we will do it for two fundamental reasons: 1. The faithfulness of God and 2. The principle on which we stand ‘For the Good That We Can Do’ for all of our people.” In observation that the SKNLP came into being during the colonialism era, Dr.

Drew commented: “As I looked at those pictures and reflect on this momentous occasion, I reflect on the fact that this party came into being in the depth of colonialism, and it gives me great pride to stand here and to say, of all the countries in the Caribbean where parties would have been formed under these circumstances, the eldest of all is the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.

Put your hands together for your St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party; a shining example, and our party is not strong because of anything other than mercies of God and His faithfulness and the principles on which we stand; the principles that we should never ever abandon because the abandonment of those principles is the issuance of the death of our party.

And we will survive even up to a hundred and beyond very strong here in St. Kitts and Nevis and beyond.” “May we as a party and a people never forget that the freedom, privileges, luxuries and opportunities that we enjoy today are a direct result of the life and sacrifices of these men and women and many more,” the SKNLP Leader encouraged.
