St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party supporters need to watch from far and focus on their work. Nothing is going to drop into our laps. What we want, we have to work for. And many times harder because even though their feet getting all sorts of gall and corn how the shoes so tight, they wouldn’t take them off. I will not remind them that they were warned. I will not remind them that Dr Douglas, after eighteen years with the scorpion, warned them. Even a family member warned them that the man was ten times worse than Dr Douglas. But they were so anxious for power at any cost, the warnings fell on deaf ears. Now all of the federation is suffering because who can’t hear will feel.
In the midst of all this confusion, the overwhelming success of last Sunday’s rally showed the world that the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party can organise and mobilise. The SKNLP rally was a breath of fresh air. It provided the opportunity to introduce and present Labour’s slate of candidates as a unified team and gave Labour supporters a reason to feel good and believe. But we have to build on that momentum. We have to knock on every single door in the constituencies. People are looking for stability and maturity and we have to convince the electorate that they need look no further than the SKNLP. Truth be told, every development of note took place because of Labour. To date, no other government has brought anything positive to the country. Right now, all that Timothy and his gang have managed to do is to make us the laughing stock of the world.
The SKNLP candidates must show the electorate that those in government are motivated by the love of money and the love of power — nothing else. Country above self is not for them at all. People are calling on the organisations and groups that had a lot of strength for Dr Douglas and Labour to find their voices and pens once again. So I end as I began: let us not sit and wait in hopeful expectation that anything will drop in our laps. Manna will not fall from the sky. We have to put in the work to get the desired result. We have to take night and make day. The SKNLP candidates are the right people at this time to save the federation. Let’s do the work to get into government to take our beloved federation out of this mess.
