BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Saturday 24th March 2018): The Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Shawn Richards, has frowned upon last weekend’s bottle brawl incident which saw popular Jamaican Dancehall artist, Aidonia being caught in the middle encounter during a ‘Meet and greet’ at a popular bar area on Fort Street.

Richards, the Minister of Youth, noted that young people should explore other means and ways of resolving conflicts.

“When other persons see these videos be it on social media such as Facebook etc, the impression that is being given about St Kitts and Nevis is that we are a society that is lawless. It doesn’t encourage persons to want to come to St Kitts and Nevis and so we have to be careful with the picture that we send outside to other persons.”

He added: “I want to make an appeal to the young people here in St Kitts and Nevis to make a change, make a difference, make it not for anyone, make it for yourself because at the end of the day it is a reflection on you as an individual. You don’t want for example a potential employer to see you in a fight on Fort Street or any other street in St Kitts or Nevis. If it is that you have issues speak to someone in authority, speak to someone who can give you some sort of guidance and let us try as best as possible not to have these issues spilling over to public places here in the federation.”

Aidonia was in St. Kitts to perform at the  concert  as part of the Black San Bang-A-Lang festivity of Sandy Point, the hometown of the Deputy Prime Minister of which he is also the Parliamentary Representative .

It is understood that the windshield of the limo was smashed during the bottling throwing.
