Tributes For Kollision Singer Jermaine u2018Chubbyu2019 Clarke Highlight His Music Impact

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 8th April 2026)u2014Tributes locally and abroadu2014highlighting his talent and music impactu2014continue to pour in for Jermaine u2018Chubbyu2019 Clarke, lead singer of Kollision Band, who was gunned down while seated in his vehicle on Easter Sundayu20145th April 2026.

Clarke, 38, was attacked in Keys Village, and information reaching this media house indicates that it happened shortly after performing at an event. The incident has left many across the Federation expressing shock and sadness, with questions being raised about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Clarkeu2019s voice was known for several popular songs from the band, including the 2024-2025 Sugar Mas Road March tune called u2018Keys To The Cityu2019 as well as u2018Pressureu2019, u2018TMIu2019, and u2018Uno.u2019

Among the tributes has been the National Carnival Committee, in a statement via its official carnival Facebook page, saying:

u201cIt is with deep sadness that we learnt about the tragic passing of Jermaine u2018Chubbyu2019 Clarke, a vital force behind the Kollision Band International. His relentless dedication and passion for music elevated Kollision to become one of the leading bands in St. Kitts and Nevis. Under his influence, Kollision proudly claimed the title of Sugar Mas Road March Champions for 2024-2025 and the runner-up for Road March 2025-2026.

u201cChubbyu2019s impact extended beyond the stage; he was a devoted father, son, and sibling, always giving back to the community and actively participating in carnival events. His contributions have left an indelible mark on our hearts and the vibrant culture of our carnival.

u201cTo the music lovers and the carnival community, we will cherish Chubbyu2019s legacy, and his music will forever resonate in our celebration of life and joy. Rest in peace, Chubby. You will be deeply missed.u201d

Minister of the Creative Economy, Samal Duggins, also expressed condolences, stating:

u201cIt is with profound sadness that I acknowledge the untimely passing of Jermaine Clarke, affectionately known as u2018Chubby,u2019 lead singer of the Kollision Band.

u201cJermaine was more than an artist, he was a spirit, a presence, and a voice that brought joy, energy, and connection to so many. Through his music and his personality, he left an imprint on our culture and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Today, we mourn not just a talented musician, but a young man who carried and championed the unique sound of our Federation.

u201cI extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, band members, and his loyal supporters, the Teflon Dons. In this moment of grief, I ask that we keep them in our thoughts and surround them with love and strength.

President of the St. Kitts Band Association, Gregory Hobson, also issued a statement, saying:

u201cThe sudden and heartbreaking passing of Jermaine u2018Chubbyu2019 Clarke, a gifted and driven artiste of St. Kitts and Nevis, has cast a deep shadow over our entire music community.

u201cAs a proud member of Kollision Band and the St. Kitts Band Association, Chubbyu2019s energy, talent, and spirit enriched every space he entered. His absence will be profoundly felt by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him and sharing in his musical journey. In this moment of grief, the members of the St. Kitts Band Association extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his family, his friends, and his loyal fans. We mourn alongside you.

u201cOur Federation has lost not only a remarkable singer and musician, but a vibrant soul taken far too soon through the tragedy of gun violence. We stand united in condemning this senseless act.u201d

The St. Kitts Band Association President also called on individuals who may feel drawn to violence saying u201cwe urge you to pause and choose another way a path of peace, of compassion, of forgiveness, and of love. Violence leaves no true victors.u201d Anguish, loss, and lasting pain to families, communities, and our nation as a whole were highlighted.

The statement further went on to say: u201cThe St. Kitts Band Association remain steadfast in its commitment to fostering a safer, more nurturing environment for our musicians and creatives. We call on every citizen and resident to join us in actively promoting peace and standing against violence in all its forms. Let us come together in unity to surround Chubbyu2019s family and close friends with love, strength, and support during this time of profound loss.u201d

Meanwhile, The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is presently investigating Clarkeu2019s homicide that reportedly occurred during the early hours of that morning.

Police say officers from the Cayon Police Station responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 12:30 a.m. Initial investigations revealed that Clarke of College Street was seated in his vehicle with a female occupant when he was approached and shot multiple times by one or more armed assailants.

Both individuals were transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital by private vehicle. Clarke later succumbed to his injuries. The female occupant did not sustain any gunshot injuries but was injured during the incident and is receiving medical care. Police said the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and collected items of evidential value. Investigations are ongoing.

The police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to contact the nearest police station or report anonymously via the Crime Stoppers hotline at 707. They also extended condolences to all those affected by the incident.
