BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (JANUARY 2018) – A new National Carnival Queen has been crowned in the person of Sheniqua Lanns, sponsored by the St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority, following the annual pageant held on Thursday 28th December at the Sugar Mill at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.

From a field of six contestants, Lanns amassed a total of 1280.5 points in beating her pageant opponents to the 2018-2018 title.

First runner-up scoring 1266.5 points was Miss Big Cane Rum Sarafiona Osborne while Miss National Bank Cornell Daniel placed second runner-up with 1150 points.

Lanns captured three out of the six judged categories namely Best in Swimwear (217 points), Best in National Pride Costume (214 points) and Best Performing Talent (219 points).

Additionally, Lanns was awarded Miss Photogenic.

Osborne was adjudged Best Evening Wear (193.5 points), Best Interview (256 points) and Best Question and Answer (219 points).

Daniel was the recipient of the Chairperson Award and also voted the Most Popular Contestant Online.

That night, there was an unfortunate mishap concerning Daniel’s talent performance after she fell during and was injured and had to be attended by medical personnel.

Daniel was allowed a do-over without any penalisation of points.

Another contestant Beliesha McDonald, representing The Bank of Nova Scotia won the Miss Amity award.

The other two contestants were Miss Carib Brewery Zonique Browne and Miss Development Bank Teresa Dias.

A. Paul Southwell, Sir Joseph France, and Sir Simeon Daniel. Recognition and special presentation to the only living National Hero, the Right Excellent and the Right Honourable Dr. Sir Kennedy Simmonds will also take place.
