Three Bills Slated to Receive Their First and Second Readings in the National Assembly on Thursday, October 27

THE PARLIAMENTARY MACE

The Order Paper has been circulated for a sitting of the National Assembly to be held at the National Assembly Chambers, Government Headquarters, Basseterre, on Thursday 27th October, 2022, at 10:00 am. Notice has been given.
 
The Honourable Prime Minister and Minister responsible for Finance, National Security, Citizenship and Immigration, Health and Social Security, Dr. Terrance Drew, will seek leave to introduce and have read a first time Public Health (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
 
Additionally, the Honourable Prime Minister will move the second reading of Public Health (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
 
Also, The Right Honourable Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Economic Development and Investment, Dr. Denzil Douglas, will seek leave to introduce and have read a first time St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
 
The Right Honourable Minister will also move the second reading of St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
 
Further, the Honourable Minister responsible for Tourism, Civil Aviation, International Transport, Employment and Labour, and Urban Development, Marsha Henderson, will seek leave to introduce and have read a first time Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
 
The Honourable Minister will also move the second reading of Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
 
The National Assembly will be carried live on ZIZ Radio (96 FM) and participating radio stations. It can also be viewed live on TV Channel 5 in St. Kitts and Channel 98 in Nevis. It will also be streamed live at www.zizonline.com

The two Bills, first introduced on September 25, 2025, by the Honourable Premier Mark Brantley, Minister of Finance in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), aim to strengthen the legislative framework of Nevis’ financial services sector. The amendments enhance transparency and ensure company records remain accurate, up to date, and fully compliant with international standards.

Master Class In Cultural Instruments Facilitates The Emergence Of More Folklore Musicians

The Department of Cultural Heritage continues to address issues raised by cultural practitioners, in this instance, filling the need for more traditional cultural music by facilitating a Cultural Instrument Master Class that began November 01, 2025. The Master Class will run for seven weeks at the Dr. William Connor Primary School every Saturday until December 20.  Participants are being taught how to play the kettle drum by Devon Nisbett and Russle Jarvis, the Bass Drum by Alarick Gumbs and the Fife by Wayne Simmonds.

Joy And Togetherness Outpoured At “We Village Dat – St. Peter’s”

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 was a day of celebration, togetherness and spontaneity when dozens of residents of the Parish of St. Peter came out to reminisce, recall and regroup at the Cultural Heritage coordinated We Village Dat, the St. Peter’s edition. The community upbuilding event brought St. Peter’s residents together, passing on the history to younger ones in attendance and fostering a sense of pride in the accomplishments of the community’s nation-builders.
