Seventh Day Adventist Repeats Spelling Bee Win Again

Basseterre, St. Kitts– The Seventh Day Adventist Primary School emerged the winner of the 2017 Rotary Club of Liamigua Spelling Bee Competition for the third year in a row.

The competition was held the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium on Thursday 2nd  November and saw twenty one (21) schools participating in the event.

Gianna Phipps represented the winning school in the competition which is now in its 13th year and brought them to victory.

Phipps won her self EC$ 1000.00 in cash while the school itself received EC$ 1000.00 and the teacher that helped them prepare for the competition got EC$500.00.

The George Moody Stuart school was represented by Suzannah Persad and tied for second place with the St. Kitts International Academy who represented by Tahiyat Kai.

Chairman of the Rotary Club of Liamigua Spelling Bee competition, Dr. Marcus Natta said that the competition was a very keenly contested and competitive one noting that it all came down to the last two words “luminous” and “pictograph”.

He expressed gratitude to those who made the event a success over the years.
