BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Thursday 6th June 2019)-A tourist has been discovered dead after going about a hike activity with another visitor to the island.
Dead is James Beattie of the United States.
The police public relations department has informed that on Tuesday 4th June, the police along with Fire and Rescue Services and the Defence Force conducted a search for two persons who were reported lost in the White Gate area.
Police received a report that two persons who were staying nearby got lost while hiking to Mount Liamuiga.
Investigations so far have revealed that Beattie and Emily Goodyear of England went on a hike on Tuesday afternoon at about 4:00 p.m.
According to the local authorities, Beattie fell ill and Goodyear left to get help and lost her way. The search team found Goodyear who then guided them in the direction of Beattie. He was found lying motionless along the hiking trail.
Reportedly, the District Medical Examiner arrived on scene, examined the body and pronounced him dead.
An autopsy to determine Beattie’s cause of death has been scheduled for Friday 7th June.
Investigation into the matter continue.
