Returning National Killed By Sibling; Man Shot Dead

Basseterre, St. Kitts– A Cayon family was plunged into mourning on Monday this week (October 9th) following a domestic dispute which left a returning national dead, allegedly by the hands of an older brother.

Dead is Mervin Paul of Lower Cayon but who resided in Tortola.

Authorities say that they responded to a report of a stabbing in Lower Cayon at around 8:35 P.M.

Upon arrival to the scene, police discovered that there was an altercation between two brothers which ended in the younger brother being stabbed by the other.

The injured man was transported to the Joseph N, France General Hospital in a private vehicle where he was pronounced dead.

Reports indicate that Paul was visiting St. Kitts to attend the funeral of his mother who is said to been buried two days later (October 11th).

The other sibling is said to be in police custody.

Paul’s murder along with another fatal incident which took place some two days before has taken the Federation’s homicide rate to 20 for 2017 with 7 on Nevis and 13 in St. Kitts.

Police are investigating a shooting incident which occurred in the community of Old Road on Monday 7th October, leaving one man dead and another wounded.

According to the authorities, the incident occurred sometime after 2:30 A.M.

Dead is 44-year old David ‘Putty’ Wilkinson of Boyd’s.

The injured male is 35-year old Jervian ‘Chronic’ Davis.

Wilkinson was pronounced dead on the scene while Davis was transported to the Joseph N France General Hospital where he received treatment for a single gunshot wound to his hand.

It is understood that both men were among a group, playing cards, when masked gunmen entered the establishment and opened fire.

In other police news, police on Nevis are investigating a report of gunfire in Cane Garden, St. John’s area.

Police responded to report of gunfire in the above mentioned area on Monday 7th October.

The scene was canvassed and processed for evidence.

No one was injured in the incident.
