Time to review! No matter how young or old we are, it is good once in a while to review our lives. Where have we been on our earthly journey? Have we been achieving our goals? Are we developing into the kind of people we aspire to be? Far important than that, however, is the question of whether we are becoming the men and women God wants us to be.

Are we making the most of the opportunities before us, Opportunities to live a healthy and safety life? Because life is as fleeting as vapor. We would be wise to make the most of our limited days.

Now in the area of occupational safety and health we need to take heed educationally and concentrate solely. We the workers in St. Kitts and Nevis, in specific industries or present some kind of overview that enable us and the Trade Union representatives to participate effectively in social Political and Economic matters on a whole.

It is said that the answer appears to lie somewhere in the middle. Of course any workers educational programmed must include the dangers of injury and disease in their own specific working environment.

Let us be mindful that training should also be given on the laws relating to health and safety in the workplace. An approved method of prevention safety inspections, bargaining and other related matters.

Before I close, most of us today do not live in literal deserts, but we often go through desert like places. Sometimes, we go about such ways as an act of obedience while other times, we find ourselves there through no conscious choice or action.

But when someone abandons us or a disease invades our bodies, we end up in desert-like circumstances where resources are scarce and life is hard to sustain.

But listen to this: The point of going through the desert whether literally or figuratively is to remind us that we are dependent on God to sustain us. And also a lesson we need to remember: Everyone has near-miss whether it is driving on the road or in the workplace.

There is a simple saying “Near-misses are warnings.” Next time it may not be that, you may be injured, all too often. It is the new inexperienced worker who gets injured because he or she does not have “Six Senses” and may be unaware of when to get out of the way or how to avoid getting injured. Until next week.
