BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Friday 3rd May 2019) – Police are investigating a traffic accident that occurred in College Street Ghaut, Basseterre over the past weekend in which one pedestrian was injured and a driver was wounded.
Credible information obtained indicates that driver was wounded after hitting the female pedestrian and subsequently attacked by her boyfriend.
According to the local authorities, the accident occurred at approximately 9:15 PM on Saturday 27th April involving motor car P3532, which was owned and driven by Denzil Miller of Buckley’s and two pedestrians.
The pedestrians were Ezekiel France of Upper Monkey Hill and Dorsel Smith of Shadwell Housing.
Police say circumstances are that P3532 was traveling from south to north along College Street Ghaut and as he got in the vicinity of Upper College Street, he struck pedestrian Smith.
France then attacked the driver and wounded him with a broken bottle to his face and chest.
France sustained injuries to his hand as a result of the wounding.
Reportedly, he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent after he was treated and discharged from the hospital. Smith sustained injuries to her head, back and shoulder. Smith and Miller remain warded at JNF General Hospital in stable condition.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
