BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Friday 7th December 2018)- Stephen Richards, a national of St. Kitts and Nevis was announced the winner of the first ever Taiwan ICDF 2018 TICA talent competition held in Taiwan on Saturday 1st December.
In an exclusive interview with Richards, he told this media house that he performed a number of Caribbean hits including “Fly” by Soca artiste Destra Garcia during his steelpan performance to win the title.
Richards said that winning the competition was like a dream come true.
“Winning this competition was an absolute dream come true for me. Being able to share our culture with the rest of the world on stage like this gives me great joy”, he said.
Richards added: “This is an experience I will remember all my life, and I will continue to be an ambassador for St. Kitts-Nevis.”
The final year Computer Science and Information Engineering student at the National Dong HWA University further revealed that he has been playing the instrument since the late 90’s.
At the end of the competition, Richard received $3000.00 Taiwan dollars for snatching the first prize position.
He also won the Most Popular Award and was presented with $2000.00 Taiwan dollars.
