Identical Twin Fatally Stabbed In Presence Of Relatives

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Friday 5th July 2019) –Information reaching this media house indicates that the incident involving the New Town man who was fatally stabbed at his home by a relative was witnessed by other family members.

It is further understood, that he was killed on the eve of his 59th birthday and that he was an identical twin.

Dead is Devis Manners who is a well-known handyman community figure in Basseterre, along with his twin brother; both of whom are known by their surname ‘Manners’.

Since this deadly incident, members of the public have been making the distinctions between the two brothers regarding which one was killed.

On Tuesday 2nd July, police received a report of a wounding at approximately 8:00 PM at the Manners family home.

Officers responded and found Manners lying motionless in his home with multiply stab wounds about his body. 

The District Medical Examiner was summoned to the scene and pronounced him dead. Personnel from the Forensic Unit processed the scene and took items of evidential value into custody.

According to a police source, Manners was “fatally stabbed by a family member at his home during an altercation.”

This media house understands that at least two other family members were present during the deadly attack and that the attacker fled the scene after the incident. It is alleged that the attacker is a male cousin who had returned to the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis after being overseas for some time.

Police say one person is in custody assisting with the investigation into the incident.

Manners’ death is 13th recorded homicide in St.Kitts-Nevis for the year.
