BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Friday 23rd November 2018)- Twelve days after well-known Nevisian hotelier and real estate agent John Yearwood was attacked by gunmen in his home, two hospitalised intruders wounded by him during that incident were charged with attempted murder this week.

Patrice Monzack and Mikey Mills both of Newcastle in Nevis were on Tuesday 20th November charged for the offence which took place on Thursday 8th November in the Jones Estate area.
Both men are currently warded in a stable condition at the Alexandra Hospital where they are being treated for gunshot injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that at about 1:45 AM two armed, masked individuals entered John Yearwood’s home.

Reportedly, Yearwood shot both intruders and received a gunshot wound to the leg from one of them.

The injured homeowner was transported to the Alexandra Hospital and was listed in a stable condition.
Police say the assailants escaped the scene with a sum of cash using Yearwood’s motor pick up which was later recovered by police in the Mount Nevis area.

That day, the two wounded gunmen were among four men caught by police while trying to escape on a boat in the sea bridge area bound for sister isle St. Kitts.

The local authorities indicated that acting quickly on information received, the police, along with members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force in Nevis, were able to intercept a vehicle on a boat that was preparing to leave for St. Kitts.

Reportedly, four persons were inside the vehicle and two of them had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds which were confirmed following a medical examination.

Nevis Premier Mark Brantley, in a statement on the heels of the bloody home invasion, condemned the act saying in part: “The Nevis Island Administration condemns unreservedly this reprehensible act of criminality against Yearwood and his family and calls yet again on the Nevisian public to give full assistance to the Police to eradicate this scourge of crime and violence from our midst.”

Constituency Representative for Nevis 11 Patrice Nisbett of the opposition Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) and NRP Leader Robelto Hector have also frowned upon the incident.

This media house understands that Yearwood is the proprietor of Oualie Beach Hotel.
