Basseterre, St. Kitts: Police are investigating a fire that gutted the Indigo Store on Port Zante on Thursday 20th October.

According, to Fire Chief, Everette O’Garro, the Fire and Rescue Services became aware of the fire at around 7:50 PM.

He revealed that it took approximately 35 minutes to quell the blaze, but the fire had already destroyed almost everything inside of the clothing and souvenir establishment.

No one was injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, however unconfirmed reports reaching this media house suggest that on the day of the fire, Indians celebrated Diwali, where several candles were lit in the stores and so it is possible that the store owners left candles lit.

Investigations are ongoing.
