Elderly Man Charged In Square Stabbing

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Friday 7th June 2019) – Purcell Hope, 66, of Pond Road, New Town has been charged with wounding a younger man with intent in the aftermath of a stabbing at Independence Square last month.

Police have informed this week that the accused- who is also known as ‘Peter’- was formally charged with the offence of Wounding with Intent on Wednesday 29th May 29- the day after he was arrested.

Chad V. Seaton of Harbor View, Bird Rock- believed to be in his 30s or 40s-was injured.

Purcell, who was previously wanted in connection with that stabbing incident, was arrested on Tuesday 28th May in under a week following the issued bulletin on Monday 24th May.

On the afternoon of Friday 17th May afternoon, officers responded to a report of a wounding, which revealed that Seaton was stabbed from behind in his upper left chest area with a sharp object by an assailant.

He was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
