Deadly 3-Vehicle Overtaking Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Children and 1 Adult Injured

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Wednesday 24th October 2018) – A police report has revealed details into a deadly three-vehicle night time crash along the Old Road Bay over the past weekend which claimed the life of a young police officer while three others-two children and an adult- were left injured.

Killed was Antonio Freeman of Verchilds said to be in his 20s.

Police say the crash, which took place at about 10 PM on Friday 19th October,involved motor car P1379 which was owned and driven Freeman, motor pickup PA6999 which is owned by Keithroy Dyer and was being driven by Ahmalie Dyer of Half Way Tree and also motor jeep PA4122 which is owned and was being driven by Robert Marsham of Godwin Ghaut.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Freeman was travelling from Verchilds to Basseterre, Marsham from Godwin Ghaut to Basseterre and Dyer from Basseterre to Half Way Tree.

Reportedly, Freeman was driving behind a motor omnibus which overtook Marsham.

As further explained, “Freeman also overtook Marsham and, while doing so, he collided with Dyer, who was coming from the opposite direction, and with Marsham.”

Both PA1379 and PA6999 were extensively damaged while PA4122 also received damages.

It has also been reported that Freeman, who was trapped inside his vehicle, was removed with the assistance of Fire and Rescue Services officers who used of the Jaws of Life to cut him out.

The young cop was then assisted by Emergency Medical Service personnel and transported to the Joseph N France General Hospital where he later succumb to his injuries.

More details into the fatal traffic accident indicate that two children were taken to the hospital where they were treated and discharged for minor injuries while an adult remains hospitalised in a stable condition.
