BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – One businessman was killed and three other individuals were left wounded following four separate shooting incidents which took place over the weekend of Friday 17th and Saturday 18th November in both St.Kitts and Nevis.
Reliable information reaching this media house indicates that 56-year-old Lincoln Liburd of Craddock Road, Charlestown in Nevis was attacked in an alleged deadly robbery on Friday 17th November.
According to the authorities, in responding to a report of shots being heard at about 2:30 PM that day, officers visited a scene at Zetlands Village in Nevis where they discovered Liburd’s body which bore signs of what seemed to be gunshot injuries.
The District Medical Doctor, Shandy Jacobs, was summoned to the scene and pronounced him dead.
A friend of the deceased informed that Liburd used to go around the island in his vehicle selling various products, and that he learnt that the attacker(s) stole all of the items during that incident.
Police are also investigating a report of a shooting incident in Cotton Ground.
Reportedly, preliminary investigations into that matter have revealed that a number of workmen were on a job site when two masked gunmen exited a vehicle and fired a number of shots at some of the workmen who all fled the scene.
No one was reported injured. Police found and collected a large number of spent cartridges.
Additionally, another shooting incident is being investigated as well which took place in Dieppe Bay, St.Kitts at about 8:30 AM.
Preliminary inquiries have revealed that Kassim Buchanan of Farm Site, Sandy Point was walking on the road towards the Dieppe Bay Police Station when an assailant, dressed in dark clothing, came from an abandoned house on Main Street, Dieppe Bay and ran after him, firing several shots.
Reportedly, he was not injured.
Police officers from the Dieppe Bay Police Station and the Crime Scene Unit responded and a number of items of evidential value were collected. One suspect is in custody assisting the police with their investigation.

Meanwhile, following a shooting in Saddlers Village in St.Kitts on Saturday 18th November, a 25-year-old man is in stable condition at the J.N.F. Hospital after being shot several times at about 3:25 AM
Shot and injured is Darren Caines of St. Pauls.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Darren Caines and his younger brother were traveling in a car when it got a flat tyre in Saddlers.
Reportedly, they stopped to fix the tyre and upon completion, an unknown gunman came and shot Caines multiple times following which the two brothers proceeded to the Dieppe Bay Police Station and reported the incident. Police say the shooting victim was bleeding profusely then.
More information coming from the authorities indicate that the brothers then proceeded to the Pogson Medical Center in Sandy Point and that Caines was later transported to the J.N.F. Hospital in Basseterre where he underwent emergency surgery.
