BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (SATURDAY, 3RD FEBRUARY, 2018) – The forensic pathologist who conducted the autopsy on the body of 23-year-old Shaquille Pemberton this weekend has determined that the young man died from natural causes.

As a result, police have ruled out foul play in the death in this matter concerning this New Road, St. Peter’s resident which had and still continues to attract widespread public debate.

Today (Saturday) Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov, carried out a post mortem and ruled that death was due to acute pulmonary failure due to haemorrhagic viral myocarditis and pneumonia.

Pemberton’s body was found in the Gillards Meadows area on Saturday 7th January by a passer-by who reported it to the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services, who then reported it to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police.

On the evening that the young man’s body was found, police had corrected initial information which classified the lifeless body discovery as a homicide.

A police source who at first informed that police were “investigating a homicide” about half an hour later said “I have been further advised that it has not been classified as a homicide however, a body was found.

Many citizens and residents had expressed shock and anger after the young man’s body was found as many believed it was a third recorded homicide for the year. Among those with such an expressed opinion was his father well-known business man Nigel Arthurton who had claimed Pemberton was “brutally murdered.”

Presently, some people have taken to social media questioning the autopsy results while others are disappointed that individuals are criticising the credibility of a forensic pathologist.
