BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 9th January 2019)- To date, two individuals have been taken into police custody after officers who were on patrol during Monday’s drive-by shooting in St. Paul’s stopped the further attack of two adult males and an underage teenage boy by armed gunmen.
A source at the Police Public Relations Department has revealed that those individuals were nabbed by the authorities yesterday (Tuesday).
22-year-old Calvert Francis, 18-year-old Alvin Browne and a juvenile-believed to be an underage teenage boy- received gunshot wounds to their legs when attackers drove by before opening fire on them just after 9:00PM.
Police say the young men were sitting on a wall next to Lover’s Lane Alley in St. Paul’s when a car stopped next to them.
Reportedly, investigations have also revealed that two men exited the car and opened fire on them. They ran down the alley in an effort to escape and got shot in the process.
The scene was processed by members of the Forensic Services Unit and items of evidential value were recovered.
The authorities say that: “Police who were on patrol in the area heard the shots and responded quickly. They intervened to halt the attack and a number of shots were fired at the car. The car fled the scene and they gave chase, intercepting the vehicle in Christ Church. The occupants exited the vehicle and made their escape on foot.”
The scene at Christ Church was processed and the car was taken to into Police custody for further inspection and processing.
