Sixty-four Taken Into Police Custody on December 26

Unfortunately, due to several incidents that occurred during J’ouvert, a decision was made in the interest of public safety to restrict the event to 10 a.m. The Police are aware that a number of the incidents were gang-related and the others were fights that occurred during the street jam.


A Police Officer is currently warded at the Alexandra Hospital in Nevis in a stable condition after he was shot and injured early Tuesday morning.

Suspect Held After Calypsonian Shot

Police are reporting that one person is in custody and another is being sought in relation to a recent shooting of local calypsonian Carlisle ‘King Binghi’ Pemberton who was attacked and robbed by gunmen while opening a gate at Montpelier home on the sister isle of Nevis last weekend.
