In regard to him making a comeback on the music scene, the young calypso veteran shared: “I don’t intend to compete though.”

While he continues to think about how exactly he would go about dishing out his art form, what he knows for sure is that it is “just an additional form that I have that I can use to communicate what I think is happening in the country or the direction that we should go etc.”

Additionally, he commented on his artistic process in creating a song using another 2007 hit song called ‘One Song’ as an example.

“My process really is that I would identify a theme and then I create musical melodies around that theme; lyrics come last. So for instance, let’s say I had the ‘One Song’ theme. I had the idea ‘One Song’ and I created a melody which I thought fit that and (created) movement in that song. So for what I have in mind I create melody  that I think would be appropriate for that  and then at the end I fill in all of the other areas but this part which I’m presently involved is coming up with those themes and melodies.”

Maynard added: “I have a couple. If wanted to, in a few weeks, I could have something.”

In September 2013, at the age of 30, Maynard was officially announced as the West Basseterre (Constituency Three) candidate of the St.Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP).

Before his senior level awards, success came much earlier for him in the junior calypso segment which comprised of a back-to-back victory in one instance.

Maynard has also accomplished regional fame which included a repeat win in the Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch held in Anguilla in 2009 and 2010.

In 2010 also, he became the first individual in 15 years to win the local national Carnival Road March title with tune ‘Unstoppable Force’ after walking away with the Soca Monarch crown that same year which was a historic double crown achievement regarding those contest titles.

He went on to win two additional crowns in the Senior Calypso March competition in 2011 and 2012 following his short break.
