In response to the recent surge in violent crime incidents within our Federation, an emergency Cabinet meeting was convened today, April 18, to address the situation. The meeting, chaired by the Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister, was held to assess the current state of affairs and to strategise on measures to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.

Former government minister Lindsay Grant has been convicted of two (2) charges namely Battery of a Police Officer, and Assaulting a Police Officer in relation to a 2022 Las Lap Bar incident.
The Police are investigating a shooting incident that claimed the life of eighteen (18)-year-old Malik Hughes of Fort Thomas Road, McKnight, St. Kitts. The incident occurred between 9:30PM and 10PM on November 15th, 2023, along the Frigate Bay Road in St. Kitts. Upon arrival at the scene, Mr. Hughes was observed laying on the ground with  multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Customs officials have charged the men for the offences of Fraudulent Evasion of Cannabis, Fraudulent Evasion of Cocaine, Concealment of Cannabis, Concealment of Cocaine and False Declaration of Documents. Mc Farlang received an additional charge for the offence of Modification of the Vessel for the Purpose of Concealment.Â
